Who Are You When You're Not Performing?
My senior thesis collection is a physical representation of the concept of feeling as though one may be exaggerating certain parts of themselves to metaphorically hide other parts. I have found the feeling of suppressing interests or personality traits to be something I am familiar with. Strategically concealing elements of identity to conform to certain standards of different spaces is universally recognized, and this collection is for the individuals who may feel as though they need to hide behind the overexaggerated parts of themselves. Relying on strategically placed glimpses of the wearer underneath the outer structures, acting as a physical representation of letting your guard fall, poses the question: who are you when you’re not performing?
